RICK BECK

These new pull toys that Rick Beck has created for his exhibition at the gallery glow as if animated by the soft light illuminating the walls behind them. The largest of them Grace and Dreamer are glorious and strange at the same time. Their spare forms suggest Minimalism but their exaggerated scale, steel wheels and rope pull handles affirm their relation to Pop Art.

In the hands of a practitioner like Beck glass is a medium for expression. There is no heroic mastery of technique on display here. The work is not a meditation on the properties of the material but is instead an exploration of a theme upon which a careful body of sculpture has been created.

The gallery is proud to mount the exhibition Artifact/Toy for Rick Beck.
