LINO TAGLIAPIETRA
When it comes to Lino Tagliapietra’s work we have come to expect fireworks. We are ready to be moved. The title of the exhibition reminds is that the act of glassblowing is a fireworks show even as the fireworks themselves might be the wondrous objects that Lino creates. Then again, isn’t the exhibition itself a bit of a fireworks show, too?
These festivities celebrate something terribly moving for my staff and me. Every exhibition we have mounted and every project on which we have assisted brings with it a sense of pride and personal satisfaction. This is Lino Tagliapietra’s fifth exhibition at the gallery. Once again, we find ourselves desperate to admire the pyrotechnics even as we are charged with watching the fuses.
Lino’s every gesture has intention and consequence. The results are awe-inspiring. Like amazed children we raise our eyes to the heavens and await the spectacle.
